Seawall and Dock Contractors on the Nature Coast
Seawall and dock contractors on the Nature Coast work a spring-fed, marsh-edged shoreline with almost no beach and a very shallow shelf offshore.
We connect waterfront homeowners from Crystal River to New Port Richey with licensed marine contractors who work those waters.
The inspection is free and you get a written estimate before anyone touches your property.
Seven feet of surge, then eight, thirteen months apart
Hurricane Idalia pushed a seven-foot storm surge into Crystal River, Homosassa and Ozello in August 2023, blocking streets, flooding homes and permanently closing Crystal River’s City Hall.
Hurricane Helene followed in late September 2024 with an eight-foot surge into the same three communities, sending water over a seawall and onto U.S. 19. Crystal River’s mayor described the flooding as historic, exceeding Idalia and resembling the 1993 no-name storm.
The shallow offshore shelf is why this coast traps surge so effectively, and repeat inundation is the local problem rather than a single catastrophic wind event. Each overtopping washes out more backfill behind a wall.

Why it matters
Spring runs, manatees and limestone
Kings Bay at Crystal River is a manatee sanctuary, and manatee protection is the binding constraint on in-water work here in a way it is not further south. The Homosassa and Chassahowitzka runs are spring-fed and clear, and vegetated edges are often preferred to vertical walls on them.
The conventional seawall market is in the dredged canal communities (Hernando Beach, Hudson and New Port Richey) cut into marsh and limestone rather than sand, which changes both excavation and bearing. Cedar Key, further north, is a different place again.
