Seawall and Dock Contractors in Miami-Dade

Seawall and dock contractors in Miami-Dade deal with a county that legislated seawall heights rather than waiting for a storm to force the issue.

Licensed Permits handled Florida waterfront

We connect waterfront homeowners on Biscayne Bay, the Miami River and the finger canals with licensed marine contractors who know which approvals your address actually needs.

The inspection is free and you get a written estimate before anyone touches your property.

Miami Beach sets a minimum seawall elevation and enforces it

Miami Beach’s seawall ordinance, amended on 16 July 2025, requires new seawalls to reach a minimum of 5.7 feet NAVD, or 4.0 feet NAVD if the wall is designed to support a future extension to 5.7 feet.

Replacing or repairing an existing private seawall outside new construction carries a minimum of 4.0 feet NAVD, again engineered to accept the later extension. Owners must keep a wall in good repair so soil does not erode into the bay and tidal water does not run onto a neighbour’s property.

It has teeth: a first violation is $250 and subsequent violations $500 per day, with 730 days allowed to complete repairs after citation. These figures are Miami Beach’s own and do not apply elsewhere in the county.

Why it matters

DERM sits above every waterfront approval here

Miami-Dade’s Division of Environmental Resources Management, through its Coastal Resources Section, has to approve seawall construction across the county, on top of the municipal permit and the usual state and federal review.

Biscayne Bay is an aquatic preserve for much of its length and Biscayne National Park borders the south county, which tightens what is permitted in Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay relative to a Keystone Point canal.

A free inspection tells you which one you are looking at.

What a free inspection includes

A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.

You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.

  • On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
  • Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
  • Written estimate with scope and materials
  • Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
