CRYSTAL RIVER, FLORIDA
Dock Builders Crystal River
Dock builders in Crystal River size a dock by the canal: no more than 25% of the width on canals 100 feet or wider, and no more than 22% on narrower ones, never into the navigable channel (City LDC Sec. 10, Docks 3.m).
We connect Crystal River owners with licensed marine contractors who design to the city code.
Free consultation and a written scope.
Slips and setbacks
One boat slip per 100 feet of shoreline, or one per 50 feet on previously platted duplex and multifamily lots, per the city Comprehensive Plan. No structure within 10 feet of rip-rapped areas, and side lines are measured by extending the lot line into the water at the mean high water line.
Moored boats
A boat plus dock may take no more than 25% of the waterway width, and the boat may not extend past the side property lines (City Code Sec. 5-9). Joint docks are allowed with a recorded agreement, and boats kept in the water may not discharge sewage into the Crystal River.
A new dock needs a city building permit and inspection, with DEP and Army Corps permits or exemption letters shown before final inspection (LDC Sec. 10, Docks 3.a).

Why it matters
Roofs and covers
Covered docks, boathouses and boat covers may not be enclosed on any side, and roofs may not be used as a deck or dive platform. Lifts, covers and boathouses stop at 17 feet above mean high water; the deck and other structures stop at 6 feet.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
