CRYSTAL RIVER, FLORIDA
Dock Repair Crystal River
Dock repair in Crystal River needs a city building permit and a passed city inspection, whether the work is a remodel or a repair (City LDC Sec. 10, Docks 3.a).
We put Crystal River owners in touch with licensed marine contractors who file the application.
Free inspection, a written scope, no obligation.
The 90 day clock
If the city manager finds a dilapidated dock is a navigation or safety hazard, the owner has 90 days to repair or remove it, with 30 day extensions for good cause. After that the city may remove it at the owner’s cost (3.n).
Kings Bay rules
Kings Bay and its tributaries are a federal manatee refuge with seasonal sanctuaries from November 15 to March 31. Owners next to a no-entry area may reach their docks for property maintenance only with a USFWS sticker or letter, at idle speed, and the work still needs its permits.

Why it matters
What the city checks
The Boat Dock Application Checklist asks for a USFWS sanctuary determination, two sets of signed and sealed drawings, a site plan with the canal width, proof that flotation is encapsulated, and DEP and Army Corps permits or exemption letters before final inspection. Non-encapsulated styrofoam flotation is not allowed (3.f).
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
