Concrete seawall cap along a Hernando Beach waterway

HERNANDO BEACH, FLORIDA

Seawall Repair Hernando Beach

Seawall repair in Hernando Beach is not optional once a wall fails: county code makes it unlawful and a public nuisance to leave a structurally unsound or shifted seawall unrepaired, or to leave its debris on the lot or in the water (Hernando County Code Sec. 7-141).

Licensed Permits handled Florida waterfront

We connect Hernando Beach owners with licensed marine contractors who work the canals off the Hernando Beach Channel.

Free inspection, a written scope, no obligation.

Where walls go

Seawalls are allowed only on non-vegetated shorelines unless every state and federal agency permits otherwise, and the footer must be faced with FDEP-defined rip-rap (Sec. 8-247(15)). A new wall may be required to line up with the walls next to it on the same side unless the owner shows hardship.

Helene’s surge

A USGS sensor on Pine Island in Hernando County read 8.84 feet above mean higher high water during Helene in 2024, and inundation ran 6 to 9 feet above ground along this coast (National Hurricane Center). Walls that were overtopped need their caps and backfill checked.

Why it matters

The permit

Permits go to the county building division with engineered plans and specs (Sec. 8-246). If the building official will not vary a standard and neighbors will not sign a no-objection affidavit, the owner can ask for a public hearing before the county commission.

A free inspection tells you which one you are looking at.

What a free inspection includes

A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.

You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.

  • On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
  • Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
  • Written estimate with scope and materials
  • Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
