Neighborhood limits

Aqualane Shores uses a 7.5 foot setback, a pier no longer than the lesser of 15 feet or 10% of the width, and a lift reaching no more than 25 feet or 25%. Coquina Sands and The Moorings allow 25% of the width with stationary structures up to 30 feet.

In Golden Shores and Oyster Bay, canals 60 feet or narrower allow 25%. Wider canals keep a 32 foot channel at the centerline, and the dock may use up to half of what remains on its side.

Permit

Docks take a Type I accessory structure permit (Sec. 16-52), applications go to the city manager, and a new pier needs a post-construction survey. Reflective address numbers at least 4 inches tall must be visible from the water.

Why it matters

Port Royal, Royal Harbor and Park Shore

Port Royal docks keep a 20 foot side setback and extend up to 25 feet from the toe of the revetment (Sec. 58-121). Royal Harbor’s interior canals allow 5 feet off the platted seawall line, while lots on Naples Bay and Haldeman Creek are set case by case. Park Shore Units 1, 3 and 4 keep piers inside the wharf limit line, 15 feet offshore.
