Seawall Repair Siesta Key
Seawall repair on Siesta Key goes through Sarasota County’s Water and Navigation Control Authority (WANCA), and replacing a wall at the same size, shape and location qualifies for a general permit, reviewed in about 10 working days (County Code Ch. 54, Art. XX).
We connect Siesta Key owners with licensed marine contractors who file with WANCA.
Free inspection, a written scope, no obligation.
Work that needs no permit
Rebuilding a cap within 6 inches of its existing size and entirely above the mean high water line, repairing cracks above that line and replacing tie-backs or deadmen landward of wetlands are exempt.
Milton’s landfall
Hurricane Milton made landfall on Siesta Key on October 9, 2024 at 100 knots and 958 mb (National Hurricane Center). WANCA approval does not replace USACE or FDEP permits, so any rebuild still needs state review.

Why it matters
When the general permit applies
The wall must have been permitted by WANCA or built before January 1, 1985. Unpermitted structures built after that date are removed, and after-the-fact permits cost three times the normal fee.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
