Seawall Repair Fort Lauderdale
Seawall repair in Fort Lauderdale is built to ULDR Sec. 47-19.13: a 5 foot NAVD88 minimum, or 4 feet for applications filed before January 1, 2035 if the wall can be raised to 5 feet by 2050.
We connect Fort Lauderdale owners with licensed marine contractors who design to that rule.
The inspection is free and the scope comes in writing.
The 2035 window
The city adopted the standard in March 2023 (Ord. C-23-05). A wall repaired inside the window can go in at 4 feet, as long as it is engineered for the later raise. File after the deadline and the full 5 feet applies.
There is a ceiling too: no higher than the base flood elevation or 6 feet, whichever is lower.
What the building permit needs
The city’s checklist asks for signed and sealed seawall and pile plans, surveys showing existing and proposed elevations, a pile special inspector form and a final survey. Broward County or FDEP approval comes first.
A Notice of Commencement is required on any job over $2,500.

Why it matters
When a repair counts as substantial
Work on more than half the shoreline, or costing more than half of replacement, is a substantial repair. That brings the whole wall up to the elevation standard, not just the panels you replace.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
