PUNTA GORDA, FLORIDA
Seawall Inspection Punta Gorda
Seawall inspection in Punta Gorda partly happens on the city’s schedule: the canal maintenance program runs an annual seawall assessment, covering north Punta Gorda Isles from January 12 to March 31, 2026.
We put Punta Gorda owners in touch with licensed marine contractors who inspect walls, docks and lifts outside that program.
Free inspection, findings in writing, no obligation.
Who is responsible
Inside Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles, the canal district repairs or replaces the seawalls. Outside the districts, the owner is solely responsible (City Code Ch. 6, Sec. 3-2).
Owners in the districts must keep the yard level with the top of the seawall cap and attach nothing to the wall.

Why it matters
Docks and lifts
The city treats a dangerous structure seriously: the owner has 3 days to respond and 60 more to repair or remove it, and lifts must be kept operable (Sec. 2-2). Irma and Ian both caused severe seawall failures here, so an independent look at the dock and lift side of the wall is worth having.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
