Seawall Inspection Naples
Seawall inspection in Naples is the first step after Ian, which pushed 6 to 9 feet of water above ground across the city in 2022 and read 7.1 feet NAVD88 at the Gordon River Bridge (National Hurricane Center).
We put Naples owners in touch with licensed marine contractors who inspect bay and canal walls.
Free inspection, findings in writing, no obligation.
What to look at
A useful inspection notes cracks in the cap and panels, gaps at the joints, soil loss or sinkholes behind the wall, and any lean toward the water. Walls on Naples Bay and Haldeman Creek take more wave energy than walls deep inside a canal, so their toes deserve a close look.
The Naples tide gauge stopped recording at 6.18 feet above mean higher high water because the surge destroyed it. Walls that sat under that water for hours can lose backfill without showing it from the water.

Why it matters
If the wall needs work
Repair or replacement needs a Type II permit from the City of Naples (Sec. 16-52). In flood Zone V, the plans must include a design professional’s analysis showing no harmful wave reflection onto neighbors (Sec. 16-150).
The city repealed its seawall article in 2013, so there is no city cap height to meet, but your contractor should still compare the cap to recent storm levels before you choose a design.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
