Wooden docks and pilings in front of canal-front homes in Marathon at dusk

MARATHON, FLORIDA

Dock Repair Marathon

Dock repair in Marathon runs on a clock once the city sends notice: 30 days to secure a dilapidated or dangerous dock and respond, then 60 more to remove it or apply for a repair permit (Marathon LDR Sec. 104.64).

Licensed Permits handled Florida waterfront

We put Marathon owners in touch with licensed marine contractors who handle the permit.

Free inspection, a written scope, no obligation.

Bringing it up to code

A dock repaired after notice must be brought into conformance as a whole: 4 feet at mean low water at the end, 10% of the waterbody width and a terminal platform no larger than 160 square feet and 8 feet wide.

Boot Key Harbor

Anchoring in Boot Key Harbor is allowed only in designated areas and is prohibited in the city mooring field (City Code Ch. 36).

Why it matters

Heights

Pilings stay within 8.5 feet of the walking surface, or 11.5 feet above mean high water if freestanding, and davits within 8.5 feet of the dock.

A free inspection tells you which one you are looking at.

What a free inspection includes

A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.

You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.

  • On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
  • Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
  • Written estimate with scope and materials
  • Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
