VENICE, FLORIDA
Dock Builders Venice
Dock builders in Venice plan around the city’s definition of a single-family dock: up to two slips, or four on a dock shared between neighbors (City of Venice LDC Ch. 87).
We connect Venice owners with licensed marine contractors who design and permit docks.
Free consultation and a written scope.
City and county
Boat dock installations are on the city’s Site Preparation Permit list. Sarasota County’s WANCA code exempts city-authorized docks only in Longboat Key, Sarasota and North Port (Sec. 54-653), so ask your contractor whether a county permit applies too.

Why it matters
State thresholds
A single dock up to 1,000 square feet, or 500 in an Outstanding Florida Water, can qualify for a state exemption; FDEP’s verification fee is $100. A general permit covers up to 2,000 square feet and two vessels for $250.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
