Concrete seawall cap along a Naples waterway

NAPLES, FLORIDA

Seawall Repair Naples

Seawall repair in Naples needs a Type II permit from the City of Naples, the same class the city uses for boat lifts (City Code Sec. 16-52).

Licensed Permits handled Florida waterfront

We connect Naples owners on Naples Bay, Haldeman Creek and the canals of Aqualane Shores, Port Royal and The Moorings with licensed marine contractors.

Free inspection, a written scope, no obligation.

What the city still regulates

Naples repealed its old seawall article, former Secs. 16-251 to 16-254, by Ord. 13-13302 in 2013, so the current code sets no seawall cap elevation. Fees follow Appendix A of the city code.

In flood Zone V, a seawall or bulkhead needs an analysis by a design professional showing it will not cause harmful wave reflection onto neighboring property (Sec. 16-150).

Before you sign

Ask for a written scope that names the permit type, the drawings the city will see and the order of state and federal approvals. We pass your request to a licensed contractor; we do not do the work ourselves.

Why it matters

Ian’s water in Naples

Hurricane Ian pushed 6 to 9 feet of water above ground in Naples in 2022. The Naples tide gauge read 6.18 feet above mean higher high water before it was destroyed, and the Gordon River Bridge sensor read 7.1 feet NAVD88 (National Hurricane Center).

Compare your seawall cap to that 7.1 foot NAVD88 reading when you plan a rebuild, and have the contractor check tie-backs and backfill on any wall the surge overtopped.

A free inspection tells you which one you are looking at.

What a free inspection includes

A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.

You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.

  • On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
  • Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
  • Written estimate with scope and materials
  • Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
