ORANGE PARK, FLORIDA
Dock Builders Orange Park
Dock builders in Orange Park place any pier, dock or boathouse in the middle third of the lot frontage (Sec. 2.05.21.01).
We connect Town owners with licensed marine contractors who design for the river and Doctors Lake.
Free consultation and a written scope.
Length
The Town sets no length limit, so state rules govern: a private dock up to 1,000 square feet over water is exempt from a state permit.
Approvals
FDEP review, then the Town of Orange Park building permit.
FDEP’s general permit covers one private dock up to 2,000 square feet with no more than two boats, and charges $250. Docks of 1,000 square feet or less are exempt.
Docks can go in before the house is occupied under Sec. 2.01.03.

Why it matters
River versus lake
On the open St. Johns River, a long dock needs bracing for open-water chop. On Doctors Lake, depth is usually the limit on how far a dock has to reach.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
