Wooden docks and pilings in front of canal-front homes in Aventura at dusk

AVENTURA, FLORIDA

Dock Repair Aventura

Dock repair in Aventura has a short fuse: under Sec. 31-238, a defective dock must be removed within 15 days of notice.

Licensed Permits handled Florida waterfront

We put Aventura owners in touch with licensed marine contractors who can respond inside that window.

Free inspection, a written scope, no obligation.

Approvals

The Community Development Department, Miami-Dade DERM and the drainage district all approve before a dock is built. A recent Aventura dock also carried an FDEP exemption and an Army Corps permit.

County review

Miami-Dade DERM’s Class I permit covers dock repair beyond re-decking, with the owner’s written consent and an engineer’s certification. A neighbor’s written objection can send it to a County Commission hearing.

Why it matters

Drainage district

Aventura’s code lists the drainage district among the approvals needed before a dock is built (Sec. 31-238(m)), alongside DERM and Community Development.

Waterfront lots also keep a 20 foot rear setback free of buildings.

A free inspection tells you which one you are looking at.

What a free inspection includes

A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.

You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.

  • On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
  • Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
  • Written estimate with scope and materials
  • Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
