ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA
Boat Lift Installation St. Petersburg
Boat lift installation in St. Petersburg has to fit the city limit of two boats per dock, counted across slips, davits, lifts and tie poles.
We put St. Petersburg owners in touch with licensed marine contractors who check that count and the setbacks before quoting.
Free consultation, a written scope, no obligation.
Setbacks for the lift itself
Lifts and tie poles sit at least 10 feet from the side property line, or 5 feet where the lot has under 20 feet of frontage.
A lift added to a dock permitted before September 2007 that is already set back 20 feet or more can come in to 8 feet.
A new lift goes through the same city dock permit review as a dock (LDR Sec. 16.50.130.7).

Why it matters
Sizing to the boat and the water
Size the lift to loaded weight with fuel and gear aboard. On canals off Boca Ciega Bay, depth at low tide often limits the boat before lift capacity does.
The lift also loads the pilings and the wall behind them. Have both checked first, especially on frontage that was overtopped in 2024.
What a free inspection includes
A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.
You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.
- On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
- Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
- Written estimate with scope and materials
- Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
