ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA

Dock Builders St. Petersburg

Dock builders in St. Petersburg design to the city dock code, LDR Sec. 16.50.130, which sizes a dock by the width of your waterfront.

Licensed Permits handled Florida waterfront

We connect St. Petersburg owners with licensed marine contractors who draw to those limits from the first sketch.

Free consultation and a written scope.

How big the dock can be

Total dock area is capped at 4 square feet per foot of waterfront frontage. A walkway up to 50 feet long and 4 feet wide does not count against it, and finger piers are limited to 3 feet wide.

No part of the dock may reach more than 25% of the way across the waterway.

The city signs off before the county

Plans go through the city’s Development Review Services first. Only after that approval does Pinellas County Water and Navigation issue the dock permit.

Boathouses are not allowed, and lots under 50 feet of frontage cannot put a roof over the dock.

Why it matters

Side setbacks follow frontage

With 50 feet or more of frontage, the dock stays 20 feet off each side line. Between 20 and 50 feet, it sits in the middle third of the lot. Lots of 20 feet or less need 5 feet.

A free inspection tells you which one you are looking at.

What a free inspection includes

A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.

You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.

  • On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
  • Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
  • Written estimate with scope and materials
  • Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
