Concrete seawall cap along a Cape Coral waterway

CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA

Seawall Repair Cape Coral

Seawall repair in Cape Coral is not optional: city code requires a seawall on every saline, brackish or tidal lot, built and structurally maintained at the owner’s expense along the whole frontage (LDC Sec. 5.4.8).

Licensed Permits handled Florida waterfront

We connect Cape Coral owners with licensed marine contractors who work the city’s canals every week.

Free inspection, a written scope, no obligation.

What the permit needs

A City of Cape Coral seawall permit needs DEP approval or the Army Corps regional general permit (SAJ-91) on saltwater lots, a burrowing owl and gopher tortoise affidavit, and plans to the city’s design standards or sealed by an engineer. Jobs over $5,000 need a Notice of Commencement (F.S. 713.135).

The residential seawall permit fee is $110.25, and the permit expires six months after it is issued.

Ian’s surge

The National Hurricane Center put Ian’s 2022 surge at 6 to 9 feet above ground in Cape Coral and Pine Island, enough to destroy the Cape Coral sensor. Walls that held still need their tiebacks and backfill checked.

Why it matters

Four inspections

The city inspects in order: seawall slab, cap align and tieback, concrete dock form if there is one, and the seawall final. A floating turbidity screen encloses the work and stays up 24 hours after it stops.

A free inspection tells you which one you are looking at.

What a free inspection includes

A contractor comes to your property, looks at the structure above and below the waterline where needed, and tells you what is actually happening.

You get a written scope and estimate. No obligation, no trip fee.

  • On-site assessment of the structure and surrounding soil
  • Photos and a plain-English explanation of the problem
  • Written estimate with scope and materials
  • Repair versus replacement guidance where both are options
